Every Falling Star
by Susan McClelland and Sungju Lee
Sungju Lee is a twelve year old boy that was forced to live on the streets of North Korea. Sungju had to fend for himself while he was out on the streets. The twelve year old boy was all alone and had nowhere to go so he had to start all over with his life. Sungju had to find a new family, friends and a place to survive - a place to live to get out of the weather. The only thing there was to hold onto in the West or North Korea was the fact that you only had hope on your side. When Sungju was put out on the streets because his parents left him, he had to worry about when he was going to eat and where he was going to find his food. Everyday of Sungju's life he had to worry about whether he was going to die or not because he had gotten himself into some trouble and he had to pay for it. Sungju meets these boys on the streets that become his family. Along with Sungju, all these boys live by their wits. Young Sungju tells people about his boyhood and his true story. Sungju tells how going from a comfortable home to a horrible and horrorus home is very difficult for him. Little Sungju is homeless and does everything in his power to retain all his hope and all his courage. Do you think you could do it?
